Woven carefully into the fabric of the Woodlake community is a golf course reputed to be one of the most challenging in the Southeast. Over half of the original 18 holes feature water play. Designed by the late Ellis Maples and his son, Dan, one of today's foremost golf course architects. Woodlake's 36 holes, with bent grass greens and Bermuda fairways, offer a USGA rating of 73.4. Overseeded with rye each autumn, the course stays beautifully green throughout the winter allowing for play year-round. As testimony to the excellent condition and championship layout, Woodlake is the selected host to the Carolina's PGA Match Play Tournament in the autumn of each year.
